Community-based learning without gatekeeping.
Fuel our community; write for the JCBP.
The JCBP stands firmly rooted in the study, practice, and pedagogy of consent-based performance practices, with one foot planted in theory and scholarship, and the other foot planted in public knowledge generation.
Submission Guidelines
When citations are used, please use Chicago Author-Date format. We can help you with this.
Submit your writing as Word Documents using Times New Roman size 12 font.
This document should include the title of your article, the article‘s text, and a bibliography listing any sources you referred to in the article. A separate document should include your name and a brief biography situating yourself in relationship to performance and/or intimacy specialization.
Author Compensation
You read that right. We look for scholarly rigor, rooted in research or one’s own experiential learning. But we understand that writing takes time, and this requirement often stops leaders in our community from sharing their discoveries. To overcome this gatekeeping, we compensate authors according to the following scale:
500-1,000 words: $50 author stipend
1,000-1,500 words: $100 author stipend
1,500+ words: $150 author stipend
We publish writing by our community for our community. As an open-source journal, we make no profit through our publications. We hope that this breaks down information barriers, and that compensating authors facilitates the flow of information among our community more equitably than has been the tradition in theatrical training or in academia in the past.

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
